'Pandemonium Shadow Show' by Harry Nilsson - Wed, May. 3, 9pm ET

The “Album Night” series already covered Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles. Pet Sounds was released in 1966 and provided some inspiration for Sgt. Pepper. Sgt. Pepper was released in June 1967 and had a direct impact on Harry Nilsson’s first full length album Pandemonium Shadow Show (not to mention hundreds of other albums) which he released in December of ’67.  Nilsson even went so far as to include a cover “She’s Leaving Home” (from Sgt. Pepper) on this album.  So the inclusion of  Pandemonium Shadow Show in the “Album Night” series feels appropriate.  Of course even absent the connection with the afore mentioned albums, Nilsson is a talented writer and performer who deserves inclusion in the series.  On his albums you’ll often find an array of emotions on display including humor, zaniness, sadness and just about everything in between.  Pandemonium Shadow Show of course is no different. When the Beatles heard this album they invited Nilsson to London to meet him.  If the Beatles liked it that much I’d certainly say it’s worth a closer listen!
