‘Philosophy of the World’ by The Shaggs - Wed, Nov. 30, 9pm ET

Well, this one should be interesting!  I only recently heard of it when it was suggested by an "Album Night" listener.  I listened to a few tracks just to get a feel for it and admittedly it was difficult to listen to.  However, if it was really that bad would it still be spoken of and reissued almost 50 years later?  I think I'll have a better answer to that question when I listen to the album in its entirety during "Album Night" on Wed. Nov 30 at 9pm EST.  I invite you to come, listen and share your opinions and feelings.  I'll leave you with some interesting quotes I found while researching the album.

"Kurt Cobain named Philosophy of the World one of his favorite albums of all time. Frank Zappa once quipped that the Shaggs were “better than the Beatles.”"

"Hacked-at drumbeats, whacked-around chords, songs that seem to have little or no meter to them being played on out-of-tune, pawn-shop-quality guitars all converge, creating dissonance and beauty, chaos and tranquility, causing any listener coming to this music to rearrange any pre-existing notions about the relationships between talent, originality, and ability."

Compelling enough? Let's listen for ourselves. See ya Wednesday, Nov 30 at 9!
