Threat From the Wrong Side of Town

There was a threat from the wrong side of town
There was a threat from the wrong side of town

Perceptions of peace stir ashes of hate
There was a threat from the wrong side of town

There was a threat from the wrong side of town
There was a threat from the wrong side of town
Confusion is a long way from home

The depth of foul play, the harassment of ideology
The wrinkle of desperation, aromas that float past the blind
Shadows that howl in the night, like the morals that clothe the masters of sin & misery

Bewilderment adorns the uncouth
Mammon cripples visions of bliss
Salvation trumps life on the throne

Fear the hand of the just, and the memories of those who are wronged
Don’t delay with pleasantries, behold the wise with a sigh
Diamonds of righteousness shine in the fragmented moonlight
Echoes of treason grow loud, as futures fade in the day

Satchels of hope for the starved
Handcuffs and clubs for the bored
Outrage and lust for the mob
Nightmares of hell for the pure

Rivers of sweat are born with the poor
the longing for purity that aches in their veins
victims of angst seek retribution for the ways of the world
persuasion is a tool forged by the damned

There was a threat on the wrong side of town
There was a threat from the wrong side of town
She was caressed by the wrong side of town…

There was a rat on the wrong side of town
They forced love on the wrong side of town
Foreclosure of hope for the vile
They drew blood on the wrong side of town…

There was unrest on the wrong side of town
They shed blood on the wrong side of town
They spilled blood on the wrong side of town

Portraits of beauty appeal to the vulgar
The romance of hatred dies with a slaughter
There was a threat from the wrong side of town
