Despite being widely respected by fellow songwriters, Townes Van Zandt was not the most commercially successful artist in his lifetime.  Fortunately he was able to release several albums in his career and his legacy has continued to grow.  His self-titled album was his third release hitting shelves on September 1, 1969.
